TLC FOR ME! The importance of self-love.

“All you need is love” says a popular song by The Beatles, isn’t that true? We all like it when we are complimented, hugged and cared for by friends or family. It makes us happy and energized to feel loved by others. Pat Mumby, PhD, co-director of the Loyola Sexual Wellness Clinic and professor, Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Neurosciences, Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM) says that "falling in love causes our body to release a flood of feel-good chemicals that trigger specific physical reactions".

Let's fall in love with ourselves! Practicing more self-love and self-compassion will enable us to ride smoothly thru everyday challenges and find more pleasure in the things we do.

Self-love means to learn to treat yourself with respect, compassion, kindness, flexibility and embrace your own imperfections. Often times, we do not make enough time to clear our minds, meditate on our ups and downs and nurture our body and soul. Deep down you know it’s essential to love yourself enough so that you can genuinely love others.
